6 year old bike and 2 fairly minor issues? BTW, M8's are great bikes, I own 2 of them.
I have ridden them, and they are nice, the thing I can’t get past is the George Jetson sound coming from the engine. I am told it’s from the counter balancer. Even rode one with an exhaust, and I could still hear it.
That, coupled with the federal government making HD void warranty for many common mods are really my issue with the M8’s.
Your bike only has 36000 miles on it but, you started having problems with it at 60000 miles.
The things that make you go, hummmmm
i saw that at first read. then when i thought more about it, i figured that he meant that he didn't start having this many issues until the bike hit 60k miles, and this bike was 24k early.
Playing around on the web and with trade values and pricing. I think I can get into a new Roadmaster after trade for 265/month (72 months.) im assuming I could get on a new RG for a much better amount than the roadmaster, and would be able to move many of my things over. May need to give the M8 another look.
Funny, HD’s calculator doesn’t present a payment unless you click the get financed button.
it’s just crazy that I would consider outside of the MOCO, - I know I’ll get slammed for even considering one.
has anyone found a way to rid the M8’s from the Jetsons sound? Think i saw someone who went stage 2 and the cams helped with the weird spaceship sound.

The Softails make the whir sound. My '19 Road King Special does not. Definitely give the M8 touring bikes another look.

I doubt you will get slammed, I'm sure those who are also members of Indian forums are looking forward to reading your complaints there too.

I just put Rinehart dbx45 on my 2019 RGS, they sound great! On my cvo limited, I kept the stock pipes, just put in full sac baffles and sounds good. As far modding the bikes, I really haven’t felt the same need as the twin cam motors so I couldn’t speak to that. I did put a 131 kit on a previous m8 that was fun but not in the plans with the current bikes. I think you can talk yourself into whatever way you want to see the world but you won’t find many m8 owners that would ever go back to a twin cam.

1. Look at final price, not payment. Easy to hide a bunch of stuff in with a “payment”…especially stretched out to 72 months. Dealers LOVE guys that focus on payment and not price.
2. M8 are easy to get rid of that “Jetson” sound. Mufflers, A/C and a nice aftermarket cam and tune. ENDLESS videos with sound clips on them.
A very, very mild cam and tune will net you north of 100 HP and 120 TQ. And that’s pretty conservative.
Regarding the clutch…did you have it flushed properly at 2 years? You didn’t change it after it overheated, that’s mistake number one.
I have my clutch and brake fluid flushed very 2 years. Is your clutch or brakes worth it to you is the question? No brainer for me.
Speaking of financing. I used lendingtree.com and got 4.19% on my 14 Tri Glide… I was surprised at the rate.
The financing ended up through Veridian credit union out of Iowa. Refinanced my wife’s Lexus there at a much better rate as well.
I went from a ‘13 twin cam to a ‘21 M8 and couldn’t be happier. Yea, it’s quiet and smooth but the older I get I kind of like it. The power difference far outweighs all of the negative for me.
Plus IMO those Indians are gosh darn ugly. It would cost a ton of money to get rid of that…
