Just a whiine...multiple issues
Yesterday I went to meet a friend for breakfast (Catonsville, MD), then rode up to Frederick and Thurmont, where we split and headed home. Part of the way home, I stopped to let my lovely bride know I was about an hour away, so she could get dinner going. Went to restart the bike after the stop, and no matter what I tried, she would not re-start (issue 1). Got kinda PO'd, called the dealer I bought her from, spoke to service manager, who couldn't help, and they said they didn't have a truck to get me, but could I get it towed in? (issue 2). Well, when I started to call for a tow, I decided to try again, and she started! Got on, started riding, got a few miles, and the ENGINE light came on! (issues 3) BIke seemed to be running normally, so I rode to the dealer. The service manager came out, got the service code off it, and it was a throttle issue.(?) He told me to schedule a visit to figure it out. So working with the service writer, the soonest I can get in is late December? (*Issue 4).
Ya know, for what I paid for the bike, and the VIP Plan, I sure didn't feel like a VIP yesterday. Is all H-D service this poor?

Also, FWIW, back in 2017 my new FXDLS did the same thing w/ less miles (failed to start) and there was a compression release issue in start-up. Once dealer fixed, no more issues. Give them a chance, they'll get you back on the road so you can enjoy that sweet new ride.

I found this on the web --- Turn ignition switch on for 10 seconds, then off for 10 seconds (Don't start engine). Repeat a total of 4 times. DO NOT TOUCH throttle while doing it.

But what CAUSED the fault in the first place???
Nevertheless, I would think you should at least get head-of-the-line privileges, especially considering what you paid for the plan. I'd be raising hell. Good luck.

I have not seen a dealer with as many techs as they would like to have. The dealers are usually short at least one. There's also the fine balance of having enough steady work to keep the techs busy all year long. All of that results in not enough techs to rapidly handle peak work times and backed up work.
Indy's usually do better work. The owners name is on the line and they can usually turn it a lot faster than the dealer. And if you decide to do any performance modifications later, they wont be held to only HD parts.

I will never take my bike to a dealer again. The last time I did for convenience since they are very close to the house. I had a broken clutch cable. It was obvious. I told the service writer to fix it. He said it would be a week before they could look at it and I said ok. True to his word, he called me a week later and said it was a clutch cable and how much the repair would cost. I said do it and can I get it the next day. He said no, they would have to order the part and it would be at least a week. Seriously, you didn't order it the day I showed you it was broke and to fix it???
Good luck with the repair and trust me, you will be very happy with your new HD.
