I would love to visit Florida , have never been there. where would one of you Floridians recommend for a first visit to your state?
I'm not a resident (wishful thinking) but have visited many times. I've had my bike there a few times as well as a good buddy owns a winter home in Bradenton.
Really like the Bradenton/Sarasota area...right between Tampa to the north, and Port Charlotte/Naples to the south. Rode to Daytona one year for bike week. Some great rides into central Florida there as well.
Some of the nicest beaches (like Siesta Key), great golf courses (if you're into that)...and not quite as busy as Fort Lauderdale, Miami, etc on the Ocean side. I'm in my 60's so March Break is not high on my priority list
Only a person with no money or property can afford to ride uninsured.
Luckily there is a such thing as uninsured motorist coverage....
it has been tempting to me over the years to just go without insurance here on my ride but its so damn cheap.. FC on my bike is $250 year so i keep it... however... the only time a biker could really get into a situation where he would get burned is probably if he/she ran over someone.... otherwise.... if you have good medical coverage already... it is not a crazy calculated risk to not take it... collisions with vehicles are almost always caused by the vehicle... except for the crotch rocket riders i guess
People drive crazy in Florida. Rent a nice convertible instead.
No offense to you or Olean, but New Yorkers from THE CITY are the cause of most bad driving in Florida. I've been here since 1978 and watched through the years of all the people that retired to Florida from NYC that obviously never drove very much in their lives.
