I drive an hr to work and another return. Have a company truck for service so the bike stays home. I bought Sirius Stratos last weekend cause up here radio stations are few between and the ones that are on have had the same people for decades.
Should have bought one when they first came out!.
NowI want to put it on the bike. sirius makes a bracket/antenna combo for $69.00. J&M makes a bracket only for I think $299.00 (no antenna). Iread some posts were putting the antenna under the fairing is soso.
Has anyone boughtthe Sirius package? if so are you happy with it?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks
Smitty
cyclegadgets.com sell some quality brackets and one of the forum members (can't remember the name, but search under satellite radio here) makes a nice one also. I modified the Sirius car kit and use it on my UC with no problems. I've got the antenna on top of the radio under the fairing and haven't had any problems with reception. Just ensure you have the FM transmitter turned off on your Sirius as some have reported this causes weak volume when you are using a patch cord to connect the Sirius to the aux port on the HD radio.
They're quite a few mounts out there for that setup depending on what you like, I had a sirius loved the playlist, but where I'm at a lot of trees I never could get the rececption I wanted or get rid of a Hum mine had ( side note I think the hum was my unit going bad )I tried putting the ant. under my fairing on my Road Glide and got the worst rec. there, The Batwing boys seem to do better, might be the angle the radio is at on my Road Glide. Hope this helps some

Gilgos: glad you were alert.Know Iread and saw your mounts, and was impressed. although i mounted my Sirius before isaw what you were making, they look like some quality stuff. Ever think about experimenting and making mounts for the bat wing?
I bought the sirius motorcycle mount straight from the manufacturer for 69.00. It came with a mount, antenna mount Aux cable and an antenna with a 6 inch lead. I could not be happier.
Sirius was the very first mod I did. I can't live without my satellite radio. I made my own bracket out of sheet stainless using a 4" grinder, Dremel, and a file. Took me aboutan hour after I made a posterboard template. I was surprised at the excellent reception I get having the antenna mounted under the fairing. Even picks up a signal inside my garage (with the door open). The only mounting items I had to buy were a couple of nylon spacers and longer stainless right hand control mounting bolts.
I have the sirus STILETTO SL100 and it works great. The car mount works out really well. All I did was remove the sticky pad and the ball screw nount. I then removed one of the screws from the clutch / switch mount. Then I installed a stainless screw thru the car mount bracket in to the switch housing. 5000 pluss miles and not a problem. Antenna is mounted under the faring.
I'm sure this is in another thread but is it ok to "tap" into the orange power wire for the cig lighter? I'm putting in a sirius radio and was thinking this would work. Also assume I need a new place to ground it and not "tap" into the ground for the lighter. Oh and I put the antenna under the bat wing like most of the others I've read about.
Please let me know about the power..... thanks much!
