I don't understand how you can change the relationship from the seat height to the windscreen height by adding an inch with the shocks????
You're raising the seat by almost an inch. You're not raising the windscreen, though you're tilting it slightly forward which would effectively raise it a smidgen. But to counter that, by raising the rear you're actually transferring a small amount of weight to the front which will lower it a tad, accordingly. So if, in the end, the windscreen stays the same height, the seat is now up nearly an inch from where it was before.
I am no tour-de-force when it comes to geometry and phycis......however.....in that short a distance...seat to windscreen....you are going to have to raise the shocks a hell of lot more than an inch to get a noticable difference. Your line-of-sight to the windscreen is going to be the same....my .02

i agree... in relation to the windshield, the seat height is not changing at all... just a slight tip forward... line of sight thru the windshield might be altered by 1/4 inch or less at most...
last week just bought an used13" HD shock for $100...install it on my 06 SG, woowwww...the ride so much better, not stiff, softer than 12",fell betterfor agrresive ride....i like it ....wont come back to 12" stock shock....but its just me...
I'd bet it would be a solid 3/4" without going and taking measurements. Maybe even the full inch. Remember, by lifting the back you're transferring weight to the front and that will compress those springs relatively more. If his helmet had been just at the threshold of the diverted wind stream and now it's 3/4" to 1" into it there will be a marked difference.
No way I'd ever change suspension components from being a matched system front-to-rear. Ever. It's either none or all.
With te pivot, Doesnt that also change the angle of the widscreen? Deflecting angle would be steeper. clearing the helmet... Come on this is silly. You are OUTSIDE on the bike if the buffeting bothers you slump down a little. Or take the car....
