I'd bet it would be a solid 3/4" without going and taking measurements. Maybe even the full inch. Remember, by lifting the back you're transferring weight to the front and that will compress those springs relatively more. If his helmet had been just at the threshold of the diverted wind stream and now it's 3/4" to 1" into it there will be a marked difference.

No way I'd ever change suspension components from being a matched system front-to-rear. Ever. It's either none or all.
No chance it will compress the springs. The sg is already lowered 1" in the rear and the front has not been lowered. So, basically....if you lower the rear 1" and leave the front alone, you have a "level" bike. I will say this again....in my opinion....raising the rear an inch will not change the seat to windscreen relationship.

I read these forums quite a bit and hate to respond most of the time. But, I was wondering??? What would EZ rider and Johnny Strabler say about all the stuff I have been reading. Too hot, tranny whine, clatter, seat hard/soft, beads, gel, sheepskin, my azz hurts, compression underwear, which exhaust, JB weld and on and on and on and on..................... git on the bike and ride for crying outloud.

btw...I have an 07 SG glide that I have had for about 3 weeks and 2000 miles. Was going to change a few things but have decided I like it just the way it is.......maybe someday..........

I don't understand how you can change the relationship from the seat height to the windscreen height by adding an inch with the shocks????
It raises the back end so your sitting a little higher. Also the sag when sitting in the saddle is only 1/2 " it should be about an inch according to Progressive's tech.

Are you positive they didn't send you the HD springs?

Anyone know how to tell the difference just by looking at them? Thicker spring wire possibly?
Well here's the kicker. I was talking to the Progressive techs again today. We were discussing the spring rate stamped on the spring. My shocks say 90/140. The progressive tech said they don't make a 90/140. Their standard spring is 90/130 and their HD is 90/150. He put me on hold to converse with another tech. After a few minutes he came back and said they were stamped wrong, it's really a 90/130.

I notsure I believe him. I'm thinking that's the crux of my problem. They offered to heat treat the springs to soften them up but that would require taking them off, sending them back, re-installing etc. A royal pain!

Can you return them and have another set shipped to you that is stamped 90/130?
