I just yesterday convinced my dealer of a "ticking" sound after the engine reaches operating temp. I had to go out and drive it aroundbefore they could hear it. After all the "never heard that one before" comments, Guy put a stethoscope to it and had the service writer write it up as non specific rear cyclinder noise. I called this afternoon and Guy found it by heating it up. Its a valve guide that comes loose at full operating temp. They are Red Labeling a new head so I can get back on the road this weekend! If you are ever in Anchorage stop down to the service dept after buying the T shirts!

Nobody could hear the noise when I first pulled in. I had to take the bike out for a short run which included sitting at 2 stoplights for the temp to get high enough. When I got back to the dealer you could hear it 12 -15 feet away at idle, over the Supertrapp slip ons. Warranties are so expensive now I did not want the Moco telling me I voided the warranty out of neglect had I not brought it in. I figured at the least it would become a matter of record that I was hearing things LOL. But Guy Casey found it. I've been hanging around this dealership since the 70's and seen people come and go, but I have always asked for Guy by name when I have to bring my bike in. Bottom line Simcom, is to make sure they hear it period, good luck.
