A 777 is an emulsified shock and a 772 is a separated shock with adjustable external adjustment & a height adjuster(s). Price difference is around $250.00 +/-. I have included several pictures of a HD 157 which is the exact same shock as the HD 772 except in black and the last is a picture of an emulsified that has no separator piston, no adjustable compression & rebound ability and no height adjuster. Howard’s website has a lot of great information on shocks.I have factory air shocks and there’s a cut away of one and it looks pathetic. I need to look into some rear shocks before spring.
So here is what I did after reviewing the excellent posts above. I ordered and received the Ohlins HD772 from Direct Cycle Parts. They had the best price and had them in stock. They are now installed. Haven't had much time to check them out completely. But my first impression is that they far exceed those oem air shocks. Thanks for all the good information.
