I need some advice and help
My boyfriend has an Ultra Classic and wants me to ride with him this Spring
The situation is that I had my right hip replaced and am tight in that area
Any suggestions for me to get into the passenger seat
Try stepping on the left side passenger floorboard, and stepping over the seat like you would over anything else. By that I mean walking forward, then turn and sit. That way its more like climbing steps, than straddling a bike. If he has a luggage rack on the back you can hold that for a bit of stability.
Probably best to attempt this with him on the bike and it sitting upright, rather than on the kickstand.
My wife had her left hip replaced , wasn't easy for her getting on my RK . She finds that her right leg is much stronger , so , with me sitting on the bike , kickstand down , she uses the left side , right foot on floorboard , hands on my shoulders , We've been doing it this way for a couple years now , so far so good .
I imaging with an Ultra , you could still get on first the same way , using the handle bars , then sliding back on your seat .
Just do this the opposite as my wife , strongest leg first .
A little bit of advice here , never stop doing your pt , you'll need all the strength in your legs to keep going . When I take her on trips I find we have to make more frequent stops , so she can stretch and walk off the pain . Unfortunately , she doesn't do longer trips with me yet , but there's hope .
My trainer brain says why not do some work on the hips to help out. I do crossfit and Olympic lifting and definitely habe a right hip impingement. I habe to work on mine everyday if im doing any dynamic movements.
This may no help ya at all but i try to fix a problem at the source

How long since your hip replacement? I've had both hips replaced 1st one in 2011 and the second in 2017 and neither one is tight as you described. I do a lot of walking and lifting at my job and I always make sure I lift with my legs if I'm picking up anything off the floor, that may be why mine don't feel tight. If your new to having a hip replacement PT will help .

My hip was done in 2014. I have been lax about doing exercises. I am going to do them this winter. .

I suggest stepping on the riders RIGHT (higher) floorboard while the bike is on its jiffy stand (it won't tip unless you weigh a couple of hundred lbs...lol). Then sit on the riders seat and THEN slide back to the passenger seat, he gets on and off you go.
Getting boarding from the high side is much easier because you don't have to lift your leg up to throw it over. Actually you wind up lowering your "throw-over" leg to throw it over the seat.
