Engine Upgrades
I am looking to boost the hp and torque of my 96 CI engine. It's completely stock. I have been toying with idea of swapping it out for a CVO 110 but friend says I would be better off to put a stage 4 kit in it. I have looked on line don't see a stage 4 for a 08 with a 96 in it.
A drop on 110 kit with your stock heads can make a tremendous difference without having crazy compression. This is my buddy Jeff's bike- he had a stock 96 with SEAC and V&H headpipe and V&H mufflers. He added the HD 110 cylinders/pistons, TTS150 cams & tuner, and a D&D 2-1 pipe. He ended up @ 10.1:1 static compression, and put 20K+ on the build since September of 2019. We did machine his heads for, and added, the ACRs and harness, to prevent starting issues.
Thanks for the info. I am not sure what I will do yet. toying with the idea of replacing my motor with a 2009 CVO 110 and matching tranny. Keep my engine, just in case. I can get the motor and tranny for a little over 4500. My main concern is they say there is no difference between a CVO ECU and the one on my bike, except the tune...Of course then I have to add probably close to a 1000 for labor and what ever the tune cost, etc... Just know my bike runs fine, but when we are two up and towing a small trailer, it's hard for it to run in 6th gear and gas mileage goes to crap quick....Was suggested to change the rear sprocket to one with 1 or 2 more teeth, not sure what that would do....
I started with an 88 took it to 107 then a 110. I would skip the 107 all together and do the drop in 110. I got mine from S&S and I am extremely happy with it. Besides having HD Street Performance do my heads for me, I pretty much did all the work myself, so that saves quite a bit of money.

I went on S&S's website and looked at the 110 kits and others and they are not recommended for tri glides or any other twin cam that has been converted to a trike. Says that they are prone to lugging. I know I try not to do that, but it does occasionally happen. So back to the drawing boards....
