chrome accents

hello all, new to forum. installed aftermarket chrome trans cover on 04 flht. now bike shows neutral when in 5th gear. loosened cover and tried shifting it around, also removed neutral switch and reinstalled not as tight. no change. considering adding a washer to shim to see if it helps. any seasoned riders got ideas? thanks. be safe.

Could be the aftermarket cover is not lined up correctly before tightening or it’s wrong for your model year bike. Before you torque it down, install and connect the switch and shift through the gears and see if the light comes on in any gear except neutral. If so, try shifting the cover a bit to square it off and check again. If that doesn’t solve the problem, replace the switch. The switch comes with an oring for your bike I think, I wouldn’t be adding washers to make it work, just my 2 cents.
