Default 12in bars with heated grips

For those of you that have put heated grips on 12-in bars do you find the lack of fairing hand protection made better by the heated grips for warmth? Having a hard time deciding between 10in and 12in because of the fairing protection.
thanks

While I went with 10" bars not the 12" like you asked but for the reason you are asking. I can tell you with the 10" bars the back of my hands get cold, so I have to wear heavier gloves. The heated grips do help.... But if I were making the choice again knowing what I know now.... I would get the 12"...... FWIW

Ok cool. The exact info I was looking for. Do you say you would have went taller because your hands aren't really protected anyway?

I have 12 inch and love the bars. My hands do get colder and like mentioned above I wear heavier gloves. In the upper 40's to upper 50's they work well. Below that they are less affective in my opinion. Add colder temps, and heavier gloves and you just don't feel them as much. The other thing I was surprised to discover is the bars, controls and mirrors sure catch a lot of bugs up above the fairing. I quit wearing fingerless gloves because of this. I found really good full finger gloves that really flow the air in the summer and actually add more protection. But there is more cleaning. Bottom line is for me the 12 inch are far more comfortble than the 10 inch. It's worth it in the end.

I have 14" bars, hand guards, and fingerless gloves. My hands stay nice and warm with heated grips.

IM hoping the heated grips help with that.

I have Factory 47 12’s on my cvo sg, the heated grips are ok but when it is really cold, 35 degrees and below to be honest, I don’t think they do much at all, at this point a good pair of gloves will do much better than the heated grips.

What height are the stock bars considered? If I decide to buy a Street Glide which is what I'm leaning towards as of now I'm going to be faced with the decision of keeping the bars stock or going higher. If I go higher 12 inches is what I'm looking at. It does suck that you lose the hand protection of the Batwing fairing once you go that high. Hand protection is kinda the point and benefit of the Batwing fairing.

I'm 6ft so im worried the stock bars are going to have me hunched down and forward which would such for my back. Obviously i wont know until i get the bike. But I'm thinking it's a surefire bet they will. I guess it's a give or take situation. Give comfort to my back by going 12s and take it away from my hands.

Get some cheap hand guards for cold season and take them off in warm season. Easy and $25.
