Default Fork rebuild question

Fellas, Getting ready to rebuild my forks, new springs, bushings, seals, etc. I have an 06 Electra Glide that has the factory emulators installed. Would you leave them out, replace or ???

What springs are you swapping in? I just swapped in new springs and damper rods from Pro Action and their kit had me remove the emulator valves from my stock 07 front end. Ride is 1000% better.

Just an observation, my 08 shop manual shows the non fairing bikes having no valves in the forks, just orifice controlled fluid flow but the fairing bikes have the valves. . I always ASSUMED that they improved control for the extra weight of the fairing. Are you looking for some sort of change to the ride quality or just trying to restore original ride quality? Does your fork bottom out on larger bumps? Heavier fluid alone might help with that and front end dive when braking, but would make the ride a bit more harsh. At the suggestion of an old head hanging around the parts counter, I also shimmed my springs with a half inch tall shims. That also helped with bottoming but made reinstalling the top plug quite a challenge without the tool.

Changing to progressive springs. My manual recommends rebuilding forks at 50K. Also trying to make for a better ride. I have experimented with different fork oil weights, with no help. Trying to improve things without breaking the bank. She hits bumps hard and jars the crap out of me. Even small bumps and cracks can be felt. I added Progressives to the rear last year, and you know what happens from there. Makes you realize how bad the front is.

That 'jarring' is a result of the design. Heavier fluid will make it worse. I would suggest Race Tech for springs and gold valves. Last time I did it, cost 3 bills for the whole kit. The difference is amazing. The feel of controlled absorption, instead of 'hydraulic lockup'. I never even notice the bumps my forks hit anymore.
