Headset Communication
If I remember right, the plastic tabs above the pockets slide up between the shell and inner padding. They stay in place on a Bell Pit Boss half shell very well. I’ll have to dig that helmet out when I’m home and double check securement method.
We use the Cardo Pack Talk Bold. I have a mount for my half helmet and my 3/4 helmet. I use wired ear buds on mine. Works well on half helmet. Cuts wind noise and provides crisp, clear sound. There is a plug in on the Pack Talk unit the ear buds plug into. I listen to music, communicate, and can take phone calls if so desired. The mike is set up with the mount and works well.
And like others say, you get what you pay for.

Yea find out what the people you ride with use, and go with that brand, otherwise there can be issues. I have Sena, but have heard the Pak Talk is better, but all my friends use Sena. With either system, if you use the bikes Nav, you will have to either get directions over the speaker, or install the WHIM. If you get directions directly from your phone, then WHIM is not needed.
The Sena and Pak Talk both have very similar capabilities, and pricing, I think. Expect to pay about $300 for top models. The Sena, comes with external boom mic and mic for internal, such as for a FF helmet, so no need to pay extra. Most half helmets I have seen, good ones, offer the vecro ear pads to house speakers. I wear FF and 3/4 helmets, so cannot comment on quality.
With my Sena 20S, its easy to connect to another person, but I have yet been able to connect to 2 others at once. The unit is capable, so I am sure I have not figured it out yet.
I am starting to think the best way might be a CB, as far as connecting to more than one other person. Just get everyone in the same channel and good to go. Then could use headset to have private convo with your pillion.

with the Cardo packtalk bold we run a group of 8, sometimes all at the same time sometimes with less of that number. once it is set up, if the people you have added to your group are in range it will automatically pair them into the group conversation, never failed to work unless someone accidently switched thiers to bluetooth mode. also i can leave my house alone and as soon as one of my buddies in my group comes into range(at say a meeting point to start a ride) it will automatically connect as well, had 8 guys and gals on the mesh without a single issue and been running them for 3+ years, mesh does work a lot better than standard bluetooth
in cardo even when your in a group you can also set up one other person to have on a private chat so you can leave the main group intercom and just talk to your spouse for a min, or from the tail to the lead for instance without the rest of the group hearing the private line
cardo works well in a half helmet with the extra kit you have to buy, but the most important part is that you have the same coms as the person you want to communicate with
A couple years ago, I tried the Sena 30S with the mesh. Never got to try the mesh out, but had some issues with reliability. Traded them back in fir the Sena 20S and they work well, bluetooth. I think its supposed to handle up to 4, maybe more, on bluetooth, but I have yet to get more than two connected. The local Cyclegear guy offered to set them up, but the only other rider I rider with lives in WA state, and I live in CA. We usually only ride together once a year, and besides that, I usually ride alone, unless at some event. No regulars though. Am starting to consider spending the cash for a CB. I could talk to my wife in her car that way too, if need be, lol.
I suppose if I rode with regulars, it might be different.
