Posted in the exhaust forum but received no feedback. Just bought a brand new RK special and now have less than 200miles and the prius quietness of the exhaust is killing me. I've read since my cat is inside the head pipe I can removal muffler baffles without any issues to the motor. Then I've also read it's not okay due to the motor could run leaner? Then I seen a video from Doc Harley the computer can compensate up to 10% so removing baffles or adding new mufflers doesnt require ANY tuner adjustments? I'm concerned about keeping my warranty so I'm waiting till that's over before I go stage 2 but for now I just need that classic harley rumble!
Buy some quality slip ons after watching some vids and reading some reviews. It’s kind of a PITA to drill out the baffles. One thing you CAN do is send them to Fullsac performance and have them drill them out and weld in one of three choices of baffles they have, if you like the look of the factory slip ons.
Just get some slipons and be done with it. You're not going to get that "classic harley rumble" without adding a cam, and then it's still not going to sound like a twin cam or earlier. The cat in the headpipe is actually very free flowing and isn't as restrictive as in the past. I would get the SE tuner if you also change out your air filter, the M8 is more sensitive to both changes in intake/exhaust, but if you just do one, you're ok.

This is the complete truth. You can remove your baffles and it will still sound like crap, just louder.
I drilled out the baffles-slightly louder but not the good sound. Got the Fullsac mod-louder and almost sounding OK. The high idle speed of the M8 doesn't help the sound, either.
To get a good rumble, youll need new mufflers, not drilled out stockers. Additionally, the loping cadence at idle which typifies the Harley sound, will only happen if you change the cam.
Only way to get the harley classic sound is to remove the cat, First thing i do to all my bikes
It changed very little, if anything at all soundwise on a 107 M8 touring. These later model cats are much less restrictive. It will hopefully reduce felt heat for this summer though, which is why I did it.
