Most here have read my posts, the clatter my bike had,the battle over having it.After IDS install my clatter is gone,it still has the 5th gear whine, but no motor/tranny noise in 5th or 6th gear now which it had before.Bakers kit is big money and will trash your warranty, some of these owners have extended warrantys and this trans fix from Baker just makes the money matters run you even more. His kit was never advertised to fix the clatter noise, only the 5th gear whine. The changes his tranny setup has just may rid this clatter also.I cant speak of this only what others have posted. Why couldnt Baker break his kit down?maybe a heavier trap door to help with the clutch walk? Not many here have an issue with the 5th gear whine. The IDS may be a bandaid or it may be doing more than one thing. Its giving the engine pulse a soft landing point, its seems to be trapping this shock between two items capable of absorbing it.But it may also be taking the shock off the lwr ends also.Where is Bakers kit letting this engine pulse/shock go if its not able to go to trans?,

I don't know, Pittguy, I'm not getting clatter or whine now - it has simply all disappeared. Where's the shock going? Well, that long toothed rubber band wrapped around the drive pulleys is a decent shock absorber. Also, that multiple layer spring-loaded radial friction damper, errr.... I mean... the clutch. You're right about the scandalous prices, I'm appalled and sullen about having to fix HD's faulty as-delivered product. Trashes your warranty? What warranty? Not worth doodly squat anyway - HD won't stand behind the '07's and has written us off.
Pan,great write up. I am considering the F6F kit for my 07 Ultra. I only have 1500 miles on it and cant stand the noise anymore. My old AMF does not rattle like the new one. Where did you purchase your F6F kit? Thanks for your info,Bobby
Pan, excellentreport. I am impressed. It is my understanding from the articles in AI magazine that both the whine and clatter are caused by back lash from the fifth gear. On my 07 RK I put Redline Heavyshock in the gearbox and it took out some of the noise. I usually wear earplugs or earphones with my Ipod so I don't hear it too much. I would love to get the F6F fix but have other things that need financial attention. I think Rinehart True Duals with the TMax auto tune will come before the Baker fix tho...Once again great report thanks for giving us some of your precious time.

Well, that may certainly be a factor, and I don't want to take away from this discussion because it's about a viable enhancement/alternative anyone who chooses to do so can make to their ride. But if you consider all the positive reports coming in from those who've installed the retrofit IDS kit it would seem to contradict the report in AI at least in part.
