Default tru duals question

hi all, i have a 2000 flhtpi 77,000 miles with tru dual exhaust...rear cylinder head pipe is cracked in a few places at the curve where it comes out of the cylinder. I've sourced a new one but my question is this...is there supposed to be a bracket of some sort to mount the pipe to? The only fastening points on this pipe are the 2 flange nuts at the head and the 2 bolts where the slipon mounts under the bags. I have the FSM and it only shows single exhaust with a crossover pipe. I've owned the bike for about 9 years...its always been like this...I think its missing something, it actually slid down and was resting on the outer primary cover and wore a spot into it...any and all responses much appreciated.

My 86 has true duals, there is a bracket/clamp where the starter is mounted to the inner primary.I believe yours has to have the same.Mine is from Paughco.Any idea who made the pipe? Post up a picture of it, some one here will be able to i.d. it .Then you can track down the necessary bracket. That pipe must be secured with the motor.

I agree that you’re missing a mount. I’ve installed Vance and Hines true duals and Rinehart true duals. Both of which have a mounting bracket that bolts to the transmission.

Even the Stock system has a bracket like stated above ... The Aftermarket Exhaust are usually supplied with another similar bracket that fits their pipes. I had to buy that bracket for my V&H True Duals (missing from a "Used" system)

Is there any electric engraving on that replacement Head pipe? ... "D451" ?

The Rinehart True Duals on my 03 RKC have a support tab welded to the header that bolts to a "U" shaped bracket that mounts to the starter bolts. The tab cracked off my header a few years back and made a HELLUVA lot of noise till I got it home. New header holding up just fine..........

Thank you for the replies guys ,I'll try to get more info on the pipe. I know the slipons are Vance and Hines...maybe head pipes are too. I'll update when I get more info, Thanx again.
