Hey guys, this may be a simple one......
I'm getting away from my 2 into 1 exhaust and switching over to a V&H dual head pipe system , my bike had the 2-1's on it when I purchased it, so.... Is there any bracketry or special things I will need for the pipe that is now going to be exiting the bike on the left side?
I see in my book that the stock pipes used a bracket under the left side of the tank there, but there was also a joint in the pipe there also.
Was hoping anyone with some dual headers could advise me of any needed parts before I start. Also, is it still common practice to replace the exhaust gasket & retaining rings when swapping pipes?
Thanks for any help, Teddy
I just put samson true dual head pipes on my heritage with cycle shack fishtails. There are brackets to support the mufflers, one on each side. Other than that there was no other bracket to support the left side head pipe section that wraps around the primary cover. And now that I think about it there was no additional bracket on the right side either. The left pipe slips over the rear cylinder head pipe and is secured with a muffler clamp under the seat area. I replaced my graphite gaskets, since my exhaust was changed once before. Cheap insurance. I did not replace the mounting rings.
