Default Super Shox install issue

I installed my Super Shoxs tonight. These are the 14" shocks with the relocation mount kit. Right side went on with no issues. Left side was going on with no issue until I went to tighten the nut on the relocation mount. It won't tighten no matter how much I turn my wrench. The shock also twists freely. The real issue is not only will it not tighten, now the nut won't loosen and I can't get it off the shock.

Anyone else have this issue or an answer to how I can get the nut removed? I'll be calling Brian this week. Thanks in advance.

Mine went right on. Is the stud spinning in the mount?

That's the only thing I can figure it is, but I can't tell really.

Put a mark on the end with a sharpie and turn with a wrench.

Just checked and the stud does not appear to be turning, only the nut. Won't tighten or loosen.

Cross threaded? If I remember that nut didn’t require much torque. Was you using a torque wrench? If so how tight did you go? Is the nut turning on the stud? Or is it stuck?

Then the nut or stud has stripped threads.

You can probably get the nut off by prying behind it while spinning it lefty-loosey.

15 ftlbs is all that’s called for on that nut.

Yeah 15lbs per the instructions, but i hadn't put a torque wrench on it at that point. I did torque the right side one and had no issues. That part also spins easily like it's on a bearing.

I ended up just removing the mounting bracket and the entire shock. Put the stock shock back on the left side for now and will wait to speak with Brian at Super Shox and go from there.

Best of luck to you on getting the install resolved.

I am curious though - there are several extended 13-14” shock options for HD touring bikes, and this is the first I am hearing or reading about an extension / additional hardware setup…..strikes me as similar to lowering blocks….

So is the xtra hardware necessary?
