Tour pack quick release installed but some issues and questions
I have completed the installation of the tour pack quick release on my 2017 Ultra Limited and I am generally pleased. There are a few issues I was hoping someone else that installed one of these could help me with.
First, the new tail/stop/signal light connectors are in an awful place. I followed the instructions for the installation and the image shows my concern. The connector itself is simply sitting on the top of the shock or around the rear fender and chrome support rail. As well as being unsightly it is fully exposed and will undoubtedly damage the fender and rail over time. The length of the LED wires makes this the only place I can see for making the connection. I'm looking at either a silicon or leather sheet to wrap the connector in but was hoping I just did something wrong or missed something and someone here would have a better suggestion.
The second but less important issue is the location of the wire guides on the inside of the bags. Again, I followed the installation diagram closely but if you look closely you will see the rear guide on both bags is pressed against the rail once the bag is installed. I will install new guides slightly forward but was looking for some suggestions on how to remove the old ones without damaging the bags.

You sure there isn't room to run that connectore and wires under the fender strut....???
Here is how I ran the wires to my CD Fillerz.... under the strut and behind the shock....
Mines ran that way too, but those are strut/slot lights. The Op's bag lights have to be unplugged to take the saddle bags off, so the wiring after the connector has to stay with the bag. But I think I'd run it similarly and see if I could run the wire in-between the strut cover and the fender and down below so its hidden, like on your bike. The idea then is to put the connector at about where your arrow/zip-tie to the rights , or possibly the center ones, but that way its hidden below the strut cover. Then keep the one half of the harness there by zip-ties holding the part that stay with the bike (when dis-connected) to the strut cover, like yours.... and the other part of the harness, that goes with the bag, is already stuck to the back of the bag.
But I hadn't dealt with the bag lights... I like the slot lights!

I didn't want to build the detach from assorted parts and got the kit. As you state, the wires from the bag lights need to stay with the bags and can not be tied to the fender rail. Also, the wires from the new bag lights are not very long. Where you see them on the picture is just about at the end of the wire length. I am going to try and remove the adhesive cable ties and play with rerouting the wires. Hopefully I can find some space on either side of the shock where the connector will fit that will not interfere with the stationary parts of the bike or the shock. I just thought of something else I might try. Instead of cable ties, U clips might work. They could be attached to the rail and the wires simply removed by pulling it out of the clip. I'll update this when I make some progress.
I have rerouted the wires for the new bag LED lights and am much happier with the results. I also used some 3M VViViD clear paint protection vinyl film on areas that might be subject to vibration damage.
