I got that **** off. I drilled the hole in a tool and put a screw through it and the filter. First one the screw ripped through the filter from me twisting it. I went back and did two screws. That worked. Holy **** that thing was right!
what’s the proper torque on the filter. You guys say hand tight?
Hand-tighten oil filter one-half to three-quarters of a turn after gasket first contacts filter mounting surface. Do NOT use oil filter wrench for installation.
By the way. I want to say thank you to all of you. Wow. So many replies so fast with helpful comments. That’s why I love this forum. People are always willing to help out.
Thanks again guys. I originally tightened the filter with wrench. Not tight but I went back and loosen it up a little and did it by hand. Hopefully I will not have any leaks.
I am really done with the dealer. That was during my 1k service.
as long as you've oiled the o-ring a 1/4 turn or "hand-snug" is tight enough. You just don't want it leaking oil under operating pressure is all. It won't rattle off with vibration. Now go call the dealer and give them ****.
