Yes I did - so I wasn't reaching - I'm afraid it affected the height as you said.

The pullback will also have a big affect.
I have 2 Road kings with different 16" apes. There's a HUGE difference between them, all because of pullback.
(the pullback of the bend in the bars, not the angle they're mounted)

When I measured with the tape I guess I didn't fully factor in the effects off pullback....

First you have to learn the proper way to peal a banana.
I had the stock 10s on 4 risers Buckhorns
hated the angle of the buckhorns and the look of the tall risers.
went to 10 with 2 risers so the cables would work but I missed the 2.
so I did 14 on the 2 risers and replaced the cables, put the wiring internal.
should have gotten the 16.
the struggle is real.
