Default How Long Your Battery lasting?

I've been buying the stock batteries for over 20 years.

One's in my Dyna's always lasted at least 5 years. Last one honestly lasted 6 years and 11 months.

Bought my 14 SG used in 2015. Had to replace the battery 11/23/16. Next one lasted till 6/20/19.

Went for a nice ride today and it's seeming to turn over slower. I keep one of those jumper things in my saddlebag, but I'll probably just pick up a new battery from Bruce Rossmeyers tomorrow.

I know my SG has a lot more electric stuff on it than my Dyna's, hell they didn't even have fuel injection. But is 3 years the norm for these bikes? After the last battery, I keep a tender on it anytime I'm not riding it.

Also the only extra electric stuff I've put on it was LED strips along the top of my saddlebags. I swapped out all the lights to LED too.

Generally mine last 2-3 years (Both automotive and motorcycle) I have lived in mostly very hot climates such as Phoenix and West Texas and now Florida. I always keep the bike on a charger when not being ridden and I ride year round. I hear some folks get lucky and go much longer. I only had one battery not giving some sort of warning before failing and that was my old Heritage in Texas years ago.

Seems to vary by the way folks maintain them - mostly if kept in a charger as mentioned, You can extend that life a bit. Newer bikes have a parasitic drain even while in an “off” condition with security and other electronic elements. My old ‘03 stays on a charger when not out riding.

At first sign of weakness, I check with a digital voltmeter and if any drop while cranking it’s time to replace.

My last 3 have lasted 7 years. I plug them in as soon as it's cooled off.

Replaced mine in my 2014 Street Glide Special last year so I got 7 years. Probably should have replaced it the year before. I keep it on a tender when it is garaged.

I'm on my second battery in my 2016 Ultra, which I bought in 2017. The new battery goes on a tender everytime I park the bike in the garage. I think the original battery lasted two years, but was replaced for free.

Default Battery life

2008 FLHT. On the second battery. Still going strong. Haven't used a tender in about 7 years or so. Factory batteries. Second one lasting a LOT longer than the original.

I haven't checked it with a meter, but just noticed yesterday it turning over a bit slower. Probably could get maybe 6 more months out of it.

Better safe than sorry, I'll replace it later today...Wednesday.

Thanks!
