Obviously if the infrastructure is updated for cars, and technology advances, more vehicles will
I don't want one know. But I am not a dinosaur,so never say never. I just want to ride. If they had better reliability and less maintenance I would. I said if
I didn't insist I would always have a kickstart, or puny engine. Even got music on one bike. Times changed.
Maybe with all the updated technology by the time they go with an electric touring bike, they will have enough space available to also install an electric gyroscope to keep us from having to put our feet on the ground at stop lights and also offset lay downs...........
I got over 300k miles on my truck. Technology advances. I don't care that I can't work on it cause it runs. My bike,I don't let anyone work on. But I do hope a day comes where 100k is no big deal. Without rust, they should go longer than auto
I work in energy sector. They are planning on updating system
I'd guess there will be an E touring bike offering from HD in the very near future. I'm far from opposed to it, but until range and recharge time and comparable to an ICE based bike, it's a non starter for me
I dont think Harley will quickly drop internal combustion engines.
i think the M8 will be their last air-cooled engine. maybe they can get by with a Overhead Cam watercooled head with Variable Valve Timing but air-cooled cylinders on their next engine. but from what ive read, the M8 barely meets EPA standards now (which will get more strict) and to get there they had to put two plugs in each head.

you make fun... but have you ever seen a boat with a Seakeeper?! Basically a gyro to keep a boat stable in rough seas. I could see it keeping a bike up!
I would have thought the weight penalty associated with electric would have made them put it in a bagger first instead of doing the live wire but maybe the batteries are not ready for prime time yet to get the range?
in ten years the batteries will lighter and more compact than they are now. The batteries we have today are lighter, more compact, less expensive, better quality, and have more range than those of just 5 years ago. I have some good friends who are heavy into electric bikes... and not the lame ones you can buy. They custom build them, swap over old mopeds, and have the Sur-Ron bikes which are basically small electric dirt bikes. Theyre pretty sweet machines, and a blast to ride.
I suspect the range with keeping an 850lb bike that 200+ miles should be easily attainable. But charging technology/ time is still the Issue in my eyes. Maybe there will be a big jump in charging time here in the coming years. Just on Monday, we weighed a converted MTN bike and it came in at 52lbs completely ready to run.
