Those air horns you people ar talking about are butt ugly. I wouldn't mount that dual ***** setup on my scoot even if it screamed' like the horny bird.
Don't feel like you are alone.
I have an 06 RG and have the same POS horn that you have. It works about 10% of the time, the rest of the time sounds like a muffled burp that only I can hear. The dealer replaced (supposedly) the first horn and of course the second horn does the same as the first. 20K bike with a .02 cent horn.
My bud has an 05 RK and has the same problem.
Has any one replaced this horn with a horn from Pep Boy's, etc. and had good results, not an air horn?
I've got a 2005 FLHTCUI and the dang horn aint worked right from day one. I've complained each time it's been in for service and I've got 20,000 on it. So it's been in a few times. No solution. Others in our HOG chapter have the same problem. Is this a problem with the 05's horns or does our shop just not know how to make a horn work?
Anyone with suggestions?
My 05 horn worked when I got it. Took it in for 1000m service, they cked the horn w/o me saying anything and it didn't work...what a surprize! The fix was....they sprayed some silicone in it...it's been perfect for 1-1/2 years now. My cousin bought the HD air horns that quit shortly after he bought them, once again silicone to the rescue. Keep in mind mine and my cousins both still made a little noise, they weren't completly dead. The dealer told me it was a common problem.
Traded my 06 Sportie for 07 RKC. Mentioned to dealer when dropping off Sportie that the horn didn't work half the time. He just smiled and said "yep, there's been a lot of those." So far, new RKC horns been fine. Of course, tranny sucks but...horn is fine. (Sorry, just had to say it.)
D'you mean other than sounding like a clown, being so quiet you can't hear it, or just being the laughing stock when you decide to try to use it -- and are more hilarious than scary!
