My 2011 Street Glide is about to hit 90K miles and had the same thing happen came across a smoking deal on a 2016 Ultra Limited with 5K miles on it. I rode it home from NC and we are really enjoying it and now gives me time to do some much needed work to the Street Glide.
Yeah I listed my 06 for sale today. It kinda makes me sad because Ive made some great trips on that bike but I dont need 3 bikes. The 06 still has alot of good life in her. I have an old evo heritage that I will probably never sell. It my preferred bike for around town.
Ive came across what seems to be a smoking deal on a bone stock , 1 owner, 2015 ultra limited with 8k miles on it. I currently ride an 06 ultra with 60k on it. I wasnt really planning on upgrading now, as my 06 is flawless, set up like I like it, (and paid for). I feel it has alot of life left in it. However we do take some cross country trips and the low mileage on this bike is attractive to me. It has the 103 HO engine (twin cooled, I think) on it. Were these years / models problematic? Im not real familiar with the "newer" bikes. I'd have to sell my 06, and just dont want to go from a dependable bike, to getting one with known issues. Any info is appreciated.
I traded my 15 ultra for a 16 CVO Ultra. I had no problems with my 15. There are some people who had problems with the water pumps.
Nice and I would bet, in the words of Joe Dirt, "that s**t'll buff out." I have a 15 ultra (non water cooled) and have put almost 20k on it in 3 years. Made a cost to coast trip and everything was flawless. Have done some mods to get it the way I want, not that it needed anything. (seat, shocks, etc).
Beautiful bike, you'll love it.
Ive got about 30 hours In disassembly, rubbing & polishing. Got everything corrected except 2 places. Added a tourpack luggage rack. Turned out nice. Swapping out front tire next week.
PS- This damn Yankee can hear the $$$ leaving your wallet all the way up here in NooYawk.
Would you like my list of excuses I used on the ol lady to buy stuff? In full disclosure, most didnt work.
Lol.
I got that rack on Amazon. Maybe it wont scratch easily. The po had already started with the blacked out theme on bike so I guess I will finish it. Ive never really been into the fully blacked out, but its growing on me. He had some 12 blacked out bars that were included in the sale. Ive not decided if i will change. I have 10s on my 06 ultra and like them. Im thinking I will take this bike out for a 500+ mile day and see how my body feels. These days Im more into comfort than cool.
GREAT JOB.....I was an early responder to your post saying that your new cycle just needs some "love".....looks like you've done that!!! It's amazing how much of a difference it makes when your cycle's original beauty is brought back out.
Well just to update. Ive put about 2500 miles on the new to me ultra. I did a 3 hole fluid change, clutch fluid change, changed bars, grips, 2 new tires, spark plugs, removed the packing from the v&h slip ons. Ive got to say Im really enjoying the bike. It has good power and Ive got it looking much better. We made a trip from Ne Ga to Charleston SC and back. We rode the big road over there and the 2 lanes back. I think its going to be a good one. I detach the tour pack mostly for the local riding & add it for the overnighters. Hopefully this bike will last me a long time.
