Cycle Electric here too, I went with their Voltage regulator too.
It's suppose to cycle the voltage as needed putting less strain on the stator. Might be snake oil, but I don't want to go in there again if I don't have to.
I contemplated going with the 3-phase but decided against it only for financial reasons.
Not snake oil. The stock VR shunts shunts current to ground to control voltage, aka controlled dead short. The Cycle Electric unit switches it on and off.
Ok, got the stator in the mail. Going to try to handle it Wednesday if I have the time. Anything in particular to watch out for taking out the old and putting in the new?
thanks
The use of an impact driver is NOT recommended because it could shack the magnets loose.
Have ALL the tools, gaskets, oil and the manual in hand BEFORE you start the job.
Rear the manual before loosening the first bolt so you're familiar with what they referring too.
Then it's a fairly simple job.
The VR on my 06 Dyna just took a dump, and after reading and researching I spent the little extra money on the Cycle Electric VR. I think it's money well spent.
