but the idea of everytime I go riding I leave my watch behind is kind of phony I think..
i agree... if you could care less about life, wife, family, job, or whatever, then sure, toss it out... but i don't know many folks who can afford bikes that can afford to not care about something other than themselves eh??
I thought that when I retired I could forget time but no, now I need to know, what time to take my pills, what time to go to the Dr. what day I have to cut the grass, what time I have to meet the other old retired bikers for coffee and where, so as you said time is important to us all, some just would like it not to be, but its a fact we live with "Only time will Tell" Time to get up, time to go to work, time to have lunch, time to go home, time to go to the movie, time to go to child's play at school, and in my case its now my grandchildren programs at school, and then we have time to go to bed and then we have to get up and repeat it all over again. personally I like time now, everyday I get up and think, I have enough time left for one more ride, one more coffee with my friends and yes, even time to take a nap, which is just what I'm going to do right now..because it is Rain time outside.[sm=hiya.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif][sm=icon_rofl.gif]

I think the cell phone mania is even worse than watches. Go on a ride with my buddies.. stop to stretch and maybe get a bite to eat.. BANG.. 4 cell phones appear and we never get to talk to them because they're checking in on ...whatever!

I might take a cell phone and throw it in the saddlebag for an emergency call... or a "hey, Honey, I won't be home for dinner because I'm 4 hours away and roads are great, see you tonight." but man.. some people got those freakin' cells glued to their ear.

sorry.. I just despise the freakin' things.

I might take a cell phone and throw it in the safflebag for an emergency call... or a "hey, Honey, I won't be home for dinner because I'm 4 hours away and roads are great, see you tonight." but man.. some people got those freakin' cells glued to their ear.

sorry.. I just dispise the freakin' things.
Oh yeah, I hear ya there, some guys I won't even ride with because of that very thing, if they are not calling, somebody is calling them.

I agree with ya hippie, I keep one in my bags for emergencies only. I gotta admit though that I don't think I would ever call the wife and tell her that the roads were great and I will be 4 hours late, I'd receive the ol frying pan across the back of the head.

I finnaly realised what retirement meant last night......... the wife and I went to a function and had to fillout a form at the end of it rating the performance of the speaker,

As I was filling out the form,I got to DATE ..... looked at the lady

"whats todays date?"
"the 15th"
"what month?"
"8th"
ThenI really had to think a minute
"what year?"

Talk about a brain fart....... and her look was priceless.

Easy Rider was back when they made real movies.
Boy if you think this was a real movie, LOL LOL. The acting was lousy except for Nicholson, it had a lousy story line, crappy cinematography, but a least the music was good. Cult classic yes, great movie, hardly. JMHO

You folks are typing on your laptops and sipping your hot tottees, while you make fun of the bikers wearing WATCHES??? Sheeeeeesh! Where does it end? Do "real" bikers even go on these forums, or are they just riding and sleeping under the stars?

My parents divorced when I was eight. About a year later she met a man that I call the man who raised me. Ya know, the one that taught me to hunt, fish, make a fire, that kind of thing. We would take a lot of camping trips, or vacations. When we would start to head out, he would take off his watch and throw it in the glovebox. One day I asked him why. His reply was simple, we have nowhere we need to be (at a specific time). I have alwasy done it since then. Any vacation, whether on the bike, or not. Watch comes off, or is left at home. I will wear my watch on the bike, but only when heading to work, and that is to just let me know what time I will be back on my bike. If cell phones were around during the time Easyriders came out, I bet it would have happened just like in Wild Hogs, where they threw their phones. When on the bike, do you really want to know what time it is? I don't. I want to ride. Everything else, work and such, means very little to me. My bike is my escape, and, if I am wearing a watch, I don't feel as though I am really gone from anything. Just my $0.02.
