Anyone who wants to experiment on how a slipping clutch can fool the ECM just try this:
Go to parking lot and ride slowly in 2nd gear. Play around with the clutch friction zone and throttle and you'll be able to watch the gear indicator go back and forth between 1st and 2nd. I'm sure you could try it in other gears but this is a slow, safe way to see how the system works
I have a 2016 Road Glide Ultra and this exact same thing recently started happening to me. I came here in hopes of finding someone else with a similar issue, and a possible solution. But instead all i see is a bunch of comedians giving the guy a hard time and no solutions. I hate taking my bikes to the dealership and prefer to do my own work, but this issue has me stumped. So if anybody has any real ideas, please speak up.

So, did you get your issue resolved?
I wish when people came here for advice (even if they didn't get the answer they wanted), they would at least post up any resolution they found.
So now we have two people in this thread with the same symptoms. A few comical responses, along with some very honest ones explaining how it might happen.
But neither of the two riders asking for help have said a word since.
Whataya mean? The clutch is slipping. Rebuild the clutch. Beef it up a little.. HD had similar probelm with the 96s.. If you own a stage 1 103 bagger, it will do it after about 40-50000 miles. Sooner if you like to get on it..

I have a 2023 road glide ST and it does downshift on his own when you give it maximum power, it has happened to me plenty of times he is not crazy. I could not believe it was happening, but I had to change my clutch on this bike. I only had it for one year before I had to change the clutch, but it does do it.
