I have a 2023 road glide ST and it does downshift on his own when you give it maximum power, it has happened to me plenty of times he is not crazy. I could not believe it was happening, but I had to change my clutch on this bike. I only had it for one year before I had to change the clutch, but it does do it.
Did you even read all of the posts in this thread on this subject?
If not, go back and read them all and you will see that your bike is NOT doing what you think it is.
FWIW: A manual trans can shift on it's own. My BMW R75/5 when going up a hill in third will shift to fourth. Shift back to third and it happens again. I will also go to neutral if you get the revs up high in third, like when getting on a freeway. But.....
I know that the problem is that the dogs for likely third gear are going bad. So the dogs want to slip out of third and naturally want to go into fourth or neutral. No magic is happening.
Now if only people would ;listen when you tell them it is the clutch slipping
Your clutch is slipping. Mine did the same thing after the dealer f'd up my clutch adjustment. The gear indicated is a calculated value from RPM and speed. When the clutch slips, the RPMs rise at the same MPH so the computer thinks you down shifted. After I fixed the adjustment in the primary, all was back to normal. Don't put many miles on like it is, you will burn up your clutch. Get it adjusted, or do it yourself, it's pretty easy.
Got the bike, jumped on the highway, went to pass a truck and gunned it. The bike shifted down to 5th automatically then back to 6th. It does this whenever I need power. The dealer tells my I'm crazy. Anyone else getting this? It happens.
Your first mistake was gunning it in 6th gear. As posted above the clutch slipped
. The bike absolutely did not down shift but you should have.
