Hey Everybody,
I swapped the breather on my 19' Street Glide from stock to a Breather from a 22' RG Special. Fit just fine no alterations were needed but now my engine light is on and I'm having irregular idling. When I start the bike or come to a light no matter if the engine is warm or cold start the idle fluctuates between 500 and 1200 rpm's
I was informed by my brothers that it was a good start, since I plan on doing exhaust system and an ECU. The breather was free and noticeably larger air flow with a much cleaner look.
Thank you! any suggestions on where to start to diagnose would be greatly appreciated
The air leak will be somewhere that you touched, bumped, or moved when installing the new air cleaner...
First check your installation... It could be something simple like an open vacuum line/fitting that you forgot to attach... or a line/fitting on the new one that is different from the old one... and now it's got nothing to connect to.. that will need to be plugged...
Then work front to back: check where the air cleaner element seals to the backing plate, then where the backing plate bolts to the intake, then the intake (throttlebody) to head seals....
Good luck and report back what you find so we all can learn...
