That was a long thread. My take away is that in the M8 oil tank and transmission vent through the transmission vent. For technical reasons, often the factory transmission vent is inadequate to perform both functions. The Trask cover and vent have the additional capacity to perform those functions much better than the factory setup. Is that about it?
No, the stock set up does not vent anything BUT the transmission.
The trask setup uses another channel in the top of the transmission that leads to the engine sump, which is blocked off ans unused from the factory. They utilize it for for venting on the engine side.
