I'm considering using shaft collars for additional drop protection. Let me be clear I'm not looking for drag protection such as what you want when practicing slow speed manuvers, I just want some additional protection if I drop the bike. Oh yeah I know dontdropit. The pictures are of collars from Amazon and I would like some that tighten up with less gap. Does anyone know of a place I can order stainless steel collars that will have less gap than the one I have pictured?

I've done some searching and these things can be ordered in about any size or material one could want, if someone could just tell what size is the best fit for both front and rear crash bars that would be great.
Wouldn't those things damage what they're attached to if the bike is dropped? What's the point?
You can line the inside bore with some tape and it will protect the chrome, they also keep the bike just a little higher off the ground which can be just enough to keep CVO bags, mufflers, etc. From getting damaged. I've had the experience.
McMaster Carr is another source for industrial supply things....fasteners, couplers, spacers, etc....
Do you have a pair of vernier calipers or micrometer?? Measure the diameter of the tubing....

Yes I have, the bar somewhat squeezes out at the bend making it ever so slightly over 1.25 it's actually 1.27 or 32.4 mm . I'm thinking a 1 5/16 for the front and a 15/16 for the rear. They would still be a gap but it would be a little less. Also I didn't crank it down tight considering I might return them for a different size, if I cranked down on them they would have closed up just a little bit.
