New-old touring bikes
I’m mostly upgrading for the 6-speed, cruise, and better brakes. Of course the wind protection and more storage will be nice, but neither of those bother me much on the Dyna. Oh yeah - I’m over the Dyna wobble, but of course I would put money into improving that if I wasn’t looking at new bikes.
My budget pretty much has me looking at 2010-2013 bikes - price seems to go up with the Rushmore upgrades…. For the record, I don’t care much about the infotainment type of upgrades but I’d take the performance and better braking.
1) Is the early ABS worth it? It seems like I’ve read of a lot of issues, but I like the idea of having ABS.
2) lots of higher mileage bikes in this age range - I don’t mind that too much as I put on a lot of miles and will just depreciate whatever I get anyways. What should I look out for regarding cam tensioners and other internals?
Thanks for any advice! I rode a 2019 road glide that basically ruined me. Would have taken it home but not sure I could afford the bike and the divorce it might cause
Luckily, everything’s a Cadillac coming off a Dyna, so the 2010-ish bikes I’m looking at should still have 80% of the improvement. Just trying to stay ‘09 +
I really like being on the road and the payments on a newer bike would pay for lots of gas, hotels, and camp spots…

I've also got a 14 - In my opinion, it's overrated. I might even prefer the 09? Not sure why - yes the forks are bigger, frame is the same, but when they are next to each other and I want to carve corners, I like the 09-13.
