Default Catalytic converter

I originally thought that my 09 street glide didn't have a catalytic converter but was told today it does and the only way to get rid of it was to cut the exhaust open and clear it out then weld it back togther. I bought it used with the exhaust and tuner already installed so I'm not sure if I have a catalytic converter or did they remove it. Does mine have one?

Without pics or some sort of indication as to what you have, there is no way for anyone here to answer that. What did the seller tell you was installed when you purchased it. Can you post pics of the bike? If I was to throw out a guess, I would say that the previous owner installed slip-ons and left the stock header with the tuner. Again just a guess. There are several videos on YT of how to remove the cat without cutting it open. All you need is a drill, a long enough spade bit, and time.

My 09 Ultra had no cat and a 96 in motor. Did a 103 upgrade and it came with a new header with a cat.

Take the right side slip on off, and look into the head pipe with a flashlight.

I had an 09 SG. It did not come with a catalytic converter. It was the last year without the cat for the SG. I believe bikes sold in CA that year (09) did have a cat. 2010 all touring bikes had a cat. Unsure about the sporty, Dyna, or softail lines.

A friend purchased a 2014 Ultra. After buying a Power Vision, he decided to remove the cat. He pulled the pipe, got ready to cut into the catalytic converter, then looked into the exhaust. The converter had already been removed ! As others have written, remove the right muffler and shine a light into the pipe. If the honeycomb remains, you have the factory converter installed.

The ‘09s did not have a cat unless they were California models. And those I believe had them in the mufflers. ‘10 and up had them in th3 head pipe. I still have my ‘09 head pipe and it’s cat free from manufacture.

Thank you everyone for the info, I'm pretty sure from the research I've done it doesn't have a cat but wanted to make sure without having to take the exhaust off to see.

If your mufflers have a standard center opening, get any long metal or wood rod and slide it up the exhaust on the right side and mark the rod where it stops. Then lay it along the outside of the exhaust and see if it goes all the way to the bend in the head pipe in front of the transmission. If it only goes a to the back of the trasmission then there is a converter in there. I heard some police officers were checking for modifications this way.
I removed mine the way someone else mentioned. I took off the mufflers and bought long drill bits for a few dollars from Harbor Freight and drilled and used a long pry bar to remove it all. It was a ton of work but it was cheap and I don't weld. You will be very happy with the difference in sound.

it was a very common thing for folks with 2010 bikes to pick up a 2009 headpipe so they could get rid of the cat.
