Quick question.. I was told in the chain case 28oz of Chain Case oil, or 20/50 Synth...
So I bought a qt of Bel-Ray Primary Chain Case lube.. Put that whole QT in as I was also told to fill up to the shiny ring..I am getting the bike ready for Delmarva Bike week, it is over 250 miles from the house there, so I want it to be perfect..
This is my first time doing a service on this Harley, I have had many other bikes, but none of the HD's.. I have a 2013 Ultra Classic..

So I found a manual for the bike and IT says 38oz's, not 28oz's.. I put Bel-Ray, but can only get Lucas for tomorrow.. Can I mix the two by putting in 6 ounces of the Lucas, or is it best to drain and refill.. Or am I worrying about nothing?
what bike do you have? my 2010 called for 38 oz in the primary (wet fill), while my 2019 calls for 28 oz.
is the oil level filled up to the proper level? if it is, don't worry about adding any more. if it isn't, then it won't hurt anything if you do mix. just don't mix anything that has any friction modifiers in it as they do not play well with wet clutches.
My 04 RK takes 1 quart as well. I run B&M Trick shift transmission oil in mine. I found running 20/50 the clutch creeped and had drag making it really hard to get it into neutral. That only started after installing a 450 Lb clutch spring plate, so running the B&M Trick shift fixed that problem.
The newer bikes run a more narrow primary housing, hence less oil. 30oz wet fill, 34 dry. That's for the NEWER bikes! Useless info for the OP.
To answer the question miscreant, the oil should fill to the bottom of the opening of the derby, while the bike is level. It is never recommended to mix lubricants. It is unlikely there would be an issue, but I wouldn't personally.
I'm wondering if maybe you have over filled the primary. If you do the clutch pack could slip and/or fail to engage and disengage properly, among other issues. I fill to the level, I don't worry about the volume.

I only put that 1 QT in, I had it on the side stand, not on the jack when I did it.. The fluid came to the bottom of the clutch pack covering the shiny part of the clutch pressure plate (I am assuming that is what that was) as I am new to Harley's.. My Honda's and Kawasaki baggers never had to deal with this.. and god only knows I love to wrench on my bikes..
I have had this 2013 since 2020, It has 9k on it.. It had 6k when I bought it and I didn't ride it much 2020 and 2021.. but this year I am doing a lot more riding as I am retired now and I have the time..
I didn't over fill it I am worried I have underfilled it.. This is my first time doing a full 3 hole service..
