I have a 2002 Electraglide Standard with a passenger backrest that has a squeak. It is driving me crazy.
It has 3 allen head screws holding it on and man I have them tight. It seems to be coming from there
when Im riding I can here it back there like a bunch of mice. One of my buddies told me just to get
louder pipes. LOL. I might try that. If I was a single man I would get rid of it.
Take a long hard look at everything else near the rear of the bike. Especially the exhaust/muffler clamps and heat shields etc. Sound is funny and it might seem like it's coming from the backrest, but it might just be weird accoustics too.
Take a long slow look at and a set of scokets to any other pieces of chrome and/or back fender braces that might be the culprit.
I wouldn't be surprised you find the offending squek coming from something else.
Had a nasty rattle squeek that drove me nuts to find it turned out to be the bracketry inside the rear fender toward the rearmost end of the fender, the fender must have vibrated barely enough to make contact with the bracket. Fixed it by using a piece of an old innertube adhesive siliconed to the inside of the fender. I had checked and tightened, lubricated every darn thing from the motor back to finally find that one, found suprisingly several not what I would consider tight fasteners on the whole bike, go figger .
