My RG must be doing something weird. I get about 180-190 miles before my handy light comes on. I too recommend about 50 mph all around average. like others i can make better time solo.

Tank to tank I get it.But who in their right mind runs the bike down to the last tenth of a gallon on the highway every tank. I getto lookin atabout 120 miles. My 07 gets the advertised 42 MPG on good gas and has got as low as 37 on the hwy on the summer fuel mix riding two up.
I get an avg of 42 MPG HWY with my '07 RG.... Normal Hwy speed 75 - 85 MPH
TANK-2-TANK means I will fill up about every 170 - 190 miles (still have fuel left)... NEVER RAN SHORT YET!

The 50 you averaged is probably about right when riding with other people. Too many things can pop up. I tend to average 55-60 by myself, but I don't spend any time taking breaks and I usually eat while I'm riding or gassing. Plus, I ride a lot farther in a day than most people care to.

We just got back from a 2100 mile trip from Boone, Iowa to Thunder Bay, Ontario. We left on a Sunday a.m. and got back late afternoon the following Sunday. I planned on averaging 300 mile days as a max. This allows us to get bikes packed and some breakfast before heading down the road. We allowed time to stop for some sightseeing when we saw something interesting and lunch at noon. We would stop every hour to hour and a half to take a break and fill with gas every other stop. This worked pretty well as it will take 15 minutes to 30 minutes for bathroom break and something to drink, depending on the size of the group. I made a 225 mile run by myself on two lane roads in 4 hours. I stopped twice for gas stops. This averaged 56 miles/hour.
