Yeah, I've gone back and forth between "keep it warantee'd for a while" vs "just do it."

The biggest thing is the exhaust though. My dealer said if I kept the SE cam and SE tune that they would have no problems warrantying the bike if I put whatever exhaust I wanted on it. My concerns are: paying extra to swap the cam out later, paying extra for the SE tune, and the potential wear and tear on the engine from the overly hot (temperature) SE tune combined with whatever may be "off" when you put a different exhaust on it. So it has me leaning towards "just do it."

the dealer can say whatever they want. it'll be the MOCO that asks for pics of the bike, sees the non HD exhaust... and decides what to do from there, should a problem arise.
you dont want to waste money after spending thousands extra on a bike for its pistons and jugs and a "117" plate, those being the first things you want to get rid of. but you dont want to pay extra for a 2nd cam swap and tune? biggest thing is the exhaust...? id be more worried about the cam and SE tuner robbing power. you seem to be all over the place. i really think you need to take a step back, read through the forums and learn, take the bike out for a while and figure out your riding style and where you want the power, and then go from there.

I think I may have miscommunicated. When I said "the biggest thing being the exhaust" I meant that I would be fine running the 131 with the anemic cam and tune for a while if it weren't for the exhaust. And I didn't spend the extra on the ST to get the 117. I knew I needed a 114 or 117 to upgrade to 131, because of the longer stroke crank (than the 107.) I bought the ST over the special because:
1- I like the chopped rear fender for a performance touring build.
2- I like the standard bags over the stretched bags for a performance touring build.
3- I much prefer the painted tank badge on the ST over the stuck on emblem on the Special.
4- I like the bronze wheels and rocker boxes.
5- I prefer the chopped front fender.

The fact that it has a 117 is incidental, and somewhat of a shame. I believe the net difference in price between a Special and an ST is $1500, assuming they both have black trim as opposed to chrome.

And you are right, I am all over the place! Because I'm trying to figure out the best direction to go. I read a ton and I am learning as I go. I really appreciate everyone's input! If it seems a little spastic, it's because I need to make a decision shortly to get this in process for this winter. I want it done for spring, which means I need to fast track some of these decisions.

I didnt notice any resonation through the bags at all. Even on my shorty stealth going cross country it really wasnt much louder than any full length Ive had.
I wouldnt really worry about weight with the pipe unless you care about .01 on the drag strip....If you want to strip weight, strip it where it counts...rotating mass and unsprung weight. Lighter wheels, brakes, etc will have a MUCH bigger impact than a lighter pipe.

To be fair, I have posted a lot lately. But I’m not all talk and no action, all of these posts have resulted in me buying a new bike and ordering a slew of upgrades. Still figuring out exhaust and which direction to go with the motor 100%, but I’m making headway.

S&S makes an EPA compliant 2 into1 that won't void the warranty, and should out perform the SE High Flow Exhaust System.

Thats exactly why I wanted a ST but unfortunately ST s are almost impossible to get up here and I didn't want to wait. My lack of luck in having a fender bender only 1 1/2 weeks after getting my bike is kind of turning into luck as I am getting a ST front fender and ST bags and I already have a 13 inches Legend on it (really wanted to go the Ohlins way but the price I got on the legend was too good to pass for now.
