On a 2007 Ultra Classic how do you get the Intercom to work?
I turn the Intercom on, adjust VOX +/-, PTT but the mike is dead. The radio works okay, but I am too dense I guess to get the intercom to work. I have tried PTT and just speaking but no results. Am I missing something? Thanks.
If you are trying to hear the intercom through your speakers on the bike, thats what you are missing.
The intercom will only work through the headsets speakers for privacy reasons.
The Speaker switch on the fairing innner cap , is used to route Music, and CB output ONLY.
what type of headset r u using ? I had problems with mine until I discovered that the J&M and Air Rider headsets that I used on my Goldwing will not work on the Ultra.Goldwing headsetis a 5 pin, Ultras r a7 pin. They plug in OK but will not do all the functions
QAre you trying to liten in your headset?
Put the passenger headset on and speak into the riders mike, or get someone else to put the passenger headset on.
I bought a used 06 Ultra two weeks ago and didn't get any headsets. I just received two that I ordered and installed in the wifes and my helmet last night. I've the same problem as Blacklion213. All controls function okay, earphones work fine with radio & CB, VOX is working fine, CB squelch is working. When either of us talk, the radio volume drops but neither of us hear anything. Using the PTT switch is the same. It's also the same with the engine running or in accessory. The speaker switch is in headset position. Any ideas?
I am having the same problem as "Blacklion213" and "grandpawmoses". Did everything as Blacklion and is what is said to do in the owners manual but can not get the mics to work. Everythingelse works fine.
Headset cables...could really be the problem. I laid my helmet on the seat, and the cord fell off and onto the pipes. Caught it shortly thereafter...saw a little meltdown on the outside but not all the way through. From that point on nothing but static and you couldn't understand what I was saying cutting in and out. I tried someone elses cord, no problem. So, the cord must have melted some and shorted out.
Turn the volume up while in intercom setup mode. You should even hear yourself in your helmet speakers. You must be in setup mode to do this. Each mode has its own volume setting. Both rider and passenger need to do this.
I agree with VOLUME while it is INTERCOM mode. Also try turning the VOX to the "Open " position, make sure the system is working and then back down to where it takes your voice to Break VOX....
