I understand riding as much as possible, we all try to do that, and I've ridden in the rain plenty, got the bike filthy. I've ridden it dirty too, but I don't understand you guys who claim to just ride, don't bother cleaning.
I would think with what these machines cost, and the high resale value for used bikes, keeping it clean, and in tip-top shape would just be common sense. Do you treat your cars and/or trucks the same way? Maybe I'm a neatfreak, but I do like to keep my bike and car as clean as I can within reason........

Oh you mean self serve hand wand car wash.
I had a mental image of you following another car into those two big spinning wheels while you had your rain gear on...
I'm lucky in AZ, just gave it it's second wash for the year, only cause it got rained/bugged on going to SD.
