I searched and I'm seeing it may not be a bad option lol. Considering I weld makes a lot of mods more accessible to me. Might check Ebay for a stock take off. Be a lot cheaper than a $1400 pipe.
The biggest issue is finding a pre made collector that fits your diameter pipes. Everything else is pretty strait forward. Finding a muffler to work takes a bit of research and some thinking, not to mention a good relationship with a muffler shop to do the necessary adjustments. But ya it is all doable.
This is a stock pipe, without the shields. It's a take off, possibly scuffed, but that's all hidden. The collector is there and unseen, but on the back, is a crossover hole. That hole gets welded shut and the right side muffler I have stays on. Currently I have S&S slip on. It's worth the price to give it a shot. Seeing your bike, for whatever reason, reminded me I wanted to try this. There is also a CAT that doesn't necessarily have to remain.

It all depends what you are going for. If you want to have the performance of a 2-1 you won't get that by just welding or plugging off the crossover.
Of course you would have to adhere to all emission and laws in place but if you were set on working with the stock pipe this is what it might look like for a good starting point. 😉
