There are two Commander III’s, touring and cruiser. Different treads, maybe different carcasses and rubber.

So, those of you running III’s, which type are you running?

yeah...i looked at all of that and thought....Michelin has got this, one of the best if not the best manufacturer of tires for any kind of vehicle....no denying there were issues, but I saw nothing that told me, never ever try a C3

no regrets and if anyone here is questioning the quality of a Michelin Commander III, then by all means, don't buy one...plenty of Dunlops out there...and they are way cheaper

American Elites. I was shocked how much I like these tires.

For general use, Dunlop tires are ok. They are a good high-mileage tire with mid-level performance. However, they have performance limitations that are a deal-breaker for me. Avon and Metzeler are OEM for Triumph, and better tires than the Dunlop line. Michelins are good. Better yet are Bridgestone tires.

Strangely, the Dunlop Elites are higher in price than most of the brands I listed, but I don't feel the value is there in terms of grip, handling, and overall performance. Your riding style will dictate what's best for you.

So far, I am impressed with the AE. I wanted to go with the P Night Dragon Touring, since I loved them so much on my FXDLS. Buying a set every 5K was not in the plan, however.

I rode my buddy's RG CVO with the AEs, and was pleasantly surprised how well they held in wet corners, and riding hard in the twisty stuff, when he told me he had 10K on them, I was sold.

I only got 9K out of my stockers, so I will give these a shot for wear, and so far they have done everything I have needed. I found a set of take-off black Streamliner boards to replace the first set. I REALLY want those Thrashin Supply boards, I think I will pick up enough clearance with those, and the 13" Ohlins helped with the adjustment eye all the way out when I set the sag.

So far, I only have 5K on them, but they look pretty good. I am thinking I will get 12K

[QUOTE=CaffeineBuzz;20929659
Michelin makes great tires....I've heard some bullshit, but I ignored it...again...Michelin...of course I trusted them over the opinion of some anonymous haters on the interwebs[/QUOTE]

A. It’s too bad I don’t still have them on my bike, being as you’re in SE Michigan as I am, I would’ve gladly let you take my bike for a ride to prove it’s not BS.
B. Do a simple “interwebs” search. This is not some anonymous haters… its pages after pages of rider complaints ALL saying the same thing. Not a couple, not a few..but you can do that search on your own. Don’t take just hdforums word, look all over.
C. If it was BS, let’s talk about this: https://www.roadstarclinic.com/filed...6&d=1663944174

Lastly, I’ve said numerous times if and when they get this straightened out, I’d love to have a set again on my bike. I always had C2s in the past, C3s were a great tire in every way with the exception of the vibration. better grip in wet, better tracking in corners, doesn’t follow tar snakes (ever ride up Gratiot to Wolverine HD on a hot day…holy pucker factor)..

He was even bashing the forum.
He always seems to come across as the ultimate authority on his subject, but yes he definitely looses credibility with me also.
