After riding metrics for 25+ years, finally arrived in a place to own an HD. Just ordered the 2008 POSE Ultra Glide last week. Now justwaiting for it's arrival (told 2 to 6 weeks). In the meantime, taking time to read the threads, especially about the "heat issues." It'll be used mainly as a tourer so not too concerned, but wanted to know is it best to have the Dealer install the heat shields or someone else?
Even if your going to use it just for touring... They do run LEAN and will still heat up even at cruising speeds you'll feel the heat... To correct this you should do a STAGE 1 and that will let your PUTT run COOLER - BETTER PERFORMANCE...
Also recommend not only for you but mostly for the passanger ... RJ's ORIGNALS http://www.rjsoriginals.com/ they will take you maybe 10 - 15 min to install and they work great...
Also you might consider changing over to a good Syn Oil like AMSOIL or MOBIL 1 as these WILL also reduce the heat - and I would do it as soon as the 1000 mile service
If you put on RJ's you'll have them on in 15 - 20 mins tops
You can do the Complete Stage 1 also.... But you're going to have to wait till some one releases the ones to fit the '08s
Air Kit - Recommend Ness Big Sucker - Installation time 15 - 30 min
Mufflers (Slip-ons) - Installantion time 20 - 40 min
Fuel Management Kit V&H Fuel Pak - (Cheapest and most user friendly you can get & It works GREAT) - installation & set up less then 1 hr
