Default Front Motor Mount Performance

My 06 Road King developedvibration problemsafter HD Service replaced "cracked" front rubber (motor) mount. Can anyone explain how the mount works when the service manual states "There should be a gap between the mounting plate and the cushion portion (underside) of the rubber mount"?Before HD Service replaced the rubber mount, the old one was slightly compressed by the mounting plate but (for 20,000 miles) had noextraordinary vibration (the "crack" was noticed during 20K mile checkup - NOT from a complain). I am now rattling baffles loose and experiencing noticable increase in gross vibration at idle and high frequency vibration at cruising speeds.

the service manual states "There should be a gap between the mounting plate and the cushion portion (underside) of the rubber mount"
The mounting plate is the frame cross member with the round hole through which the bottom half of the mount protrudes. What they're saying is there should be clearance between the edge of the hole and the rubber sticking down through it. Said another way, the rubber going down through the hole should not be touching the edge of the hole anywhere.

Theoretically, the mount bolt hole in the engine's mount bracket should be centered over the "mounting plate" hole with the rubber mount centered between them. If your vehicle alignment doesn't allow for that it's best to split the difference. Keep the rubber mount centered in the "mounting plate" as best you can first. Only shift it if you can't keep the through-bolt from binding anywhere as you drop it into place. It should tighten without any misalignment through the mount. The torque value on all three of those bolts is 15-20 ft-lb.

Same with mine, replaced front mount under warrenty, noticed when I cranked up in the parking lot of the dealer that idle vibration is increased. I was told, it's a new design.
