Default What to do? Leftover bag supports

I'm sure like many others after adding saddle bag guards to our bikes we are left with the OEM saddle bag supports. Sure throw them in a bin or in the basement/attic, but they just sit there. I've been toying with this idea for while and using them for a saddle bag stand. I've seen many versions, but figured the OEM supports could be put to good use. With some scrap 2x4 this is what I threw together. Yeah its rough, but this is just the first iteration. Right now I have the bottoms cut at 15 degrees and may change that to 25 so the bags lean in more. I also want to able to use the saddle bolts to secure the bags to the stand.

If you've built your own share what you have or just some ideas for improvements. Mounting these to the wall in a small garage might be another way to.

I like the idea and profess I had no idea if you added guards to a SG you needed different supports. Other than deep cleaning why would you remove the saddle bags? Maybe you do your own tires and such.

I remove the bags every time I wash the bike...typically once a week.
Pretty cool use of otherwise useless parts. Only thing I would think that would make it better is raise up the mounting location so you can open the bags while on the stand...unless those new fangled bags open up so the lid comes towards the outside? Being the owner of one those "old" harleys my bags wouldn't open in the current location...just being the picky a-hole that I am lol

Even better, design it so that it can mount on the garage wall. That's what I've done on some BMW hard bags, when I had those bikes. I just built a mount using a thin rod and attached it to the garage wall. ( they mount different than a Harley ). All you need is a rod that the lower bag sits on and just have it far enough from the wall that the saddlebag tilts against the wall. You can put something soft on the wall where the upper portion of the bag touches if you want, but not really necessary. So even if you don't have the stock lower mount, it is easy to build. Great for getting the bags up out of the way, off the floor, for winter storage, or when you don't want the bags on the bike. Also creates more room in a crowded garage.
