There are a lot of people on here with just as many models and model years in their driveways/ garages/sheds. So suggesting to folks to look in the OM is a fail safe to the poster and helps the poster to learn his/her model of bike. Too many variables My two TC 88" Dynas are different than my "13 103".
made just an opinion that an extra 1/4 quart of oil in there at a change as long as it was not over hot full when hot would keep you from having to add oil on a trip.

Once oil is hot, that little extra is hot. Doesn't cool any more, just a reserve so you will never fill the need to add between changes.

Pre operation check (engine cold) needs to not be below the ADD mark or above the FULL HOT mark.
Post operation (engine hot) same thing.
How hard can this be?
If you check the oil at the end of a ride and there isn't a puddle of oil under the bike the next time you go to ride it will still have the same amount so no need for a cold check, IMO.
