The smoking started after Advanblack replaced my tour pac, I only posted that to get them the credit they deserve
Uh oh.🙁
You shouldn't have put that in writing.
Now Harley will deny your claim. You just admitted the bike ran fine until you put on aftermarket parts. 😁
Is it me or people get butt-hurt when someone wants to switch to Indian?
I dont think its Butt Hurt - I have looked at their bikes thoroughly..............The issue is that even on the Indian Forums they complain about issues they`re having with the Challenger/Pursuit, these Bikes are basically of Victory DNA and as for the horsepower / torque they check the boxes. But......Victory / Polaris apparently didnt learn anything, people want more than a go fast bagger, they want a company in it for the long haul & a company that makes Motorcycles, not seadoos, side by sides, snow mobilies, slingshots or other - Motorcycles!
The Problem with Indian is & Just my opinion, they axed Victory and bought a brand - then want an outrageous price for accessories (maybe to make up for their loses from victory). Which makes HD look reasonable, the fit & Finish on their bikes is really sub par for the price, their Ride command system sucks, they have issues with the Throttle by wire, the windshield that goes up & down has been problematic & most who jump to Indian regret it & come back to HD. The threat of Indian as the "other" american brand is really more of a romance with the past once you buy & find out the shortcomings you realize some things are better left as they were & Indian is just that.

I agree, brand loyalty is insane here. I'm a big f-150 fanboi. But if I had an engine blow right after the warranty expired and the dealership said I was s.o.l. I'd be trading for Dodge or a Chevy. And I sure wouldn't belittle anybody else for doing the same.
I will say cylinder leak test, rings and/or valve seals should be looked at unless you have damaged cylinder walls. These will cause oil to burn. Other options is excessive oil from head vents shooting oil to be burned. Oil pump not so much but good to upgrade
Now would definitely be a great time to upgrade the cam and oil pump. The only reason not to do it would be if planning to sell/trade this bike in the next year or two.

My bike has the HD stage 2 cam, not as good as aftermarket cams I will admit, BUT if I had gone that route I would be facing a massive rebuild cost right now!
