While the retractable wheels are smaller this system looks to be a good answer for your problem. Obviously used in SLOW SPEED maneuvering I would think most riders could easily steer away from parking lot pot holes or other hazards while moving at maneuvering speed.

If you haven't checked out the "Leg Up Landing Gear" video you might find it interesting........hope this helps.

I would go with trike, just for the safety.

Because it could pick the bike up, and keep the bike from falling all the way over, the wheels were canter outwards, so they’d hit the ground squarely when falling over without bending or buckling.

I have no experience with Gear Up or any other device.
As a possible alternative for what I assume will be much less money, have you considered a Sidecar frame?

I do not want to switch to a tri-glide so I came across a company that sells a product called Leg Up Landing Gear. I’m looking for someone who has experience with this product and can give me some advice or feedback. I’m 5’8 current weight 140lbs. That’s a little light in the butt for a 1000# motorcycle. Thanks in advance for any help. Have blessed day.
You have health issues, only weigh 140 lbs and still want to keep your full sized Bagger?

Nothing but mad respect for you amigo, I hope it all works out....

I too for some reason would have trouble wrapping my head around riding a trike... I have no idea why, I just don't see myself riding one... I've made the decision that if health/strength will cause me to stop riding, I would switch to a side car before a trike...

FWIW.... I am a fan of Champion Sidecars, Liberty stopped making their side car, and DMC Side cars has been bought out by a Texas company and they are still available...

I can see my self adding a sidecar to my current touring bike, 2016 Ultra Classic with a 124" S&S engine, versus buying a trike...

If a trike is not something you would consider ( I am of the same opinion), perhaps a move from a touring frame to something lighter is an option.

There are many lighter options in the softail range...
