Man i went up to 16" after my custom twelves were killing my shoulders on long rides. My pullback is 6" which is key to your comfort(something i didnt factor in with my first bars).I have no problems with handling or turning either. As long as your hands arent higher than your shoulder/neck they wont go numb!
I'll be grip'n these 16" ***** f'ers till arthritis says NOT!!!!! BTW thats the stock windshield in the sig!!!!

What about big Apes fitting with a stock RKC windshield? Anyone have issues or feedback? Thanks.

-Nick
Well, I have 18" apes, if that qualifies as 'big'. I am 6'1" and weigh 350ish lbs. The stock bars would give me that burn between the shoulder blades. Now, the burn is gone. I can uturn in a single lane, and they feel awesome. When I first had them put on (I now know I should have and could have done it myself), the stock height windshield fit fine. The bars were in line with the forks. The position was not as comfortable as I would have liked, and I wanted them pushed more forward, for the look I wanted. I was surprised to find that the feel was even better, for the wife and myself. That being said, now my windshield does not fit. It hits the clutch cable, and will not fully seat into position. I am planning on going with a shorter shield, but I rarely use the shield anyways. On anything under 300 miles, I wouldn't care for a shield. I will get one for longer hauls, eventually. So, yes they feel great. I have major issues with my back, but when I ride, it is never an issue. My hands are right at my shoulders, and my hands have never gotten really numb like they did with the stock bars. If you like the look, you will not be disappointed. I would recommend hanging around a shop or bike night and trying the right size before you buy. You wouldn't want to go to short and wish for bigger bars. Also, make sure you know the law about handlebar height where you live, and any areas you plan on taking a ride. I checked, and forNM and future travel plans, I should be fine.

Ride, handling, cornering? Did you ever drive a car without power steering, and then go back to one that had it? That's how 16" apes handle on a FLHR.
He must have been thefirst person to sucessfully install apes on backwards! Or let me guess. He has never had apes and it talking out the side of his neck.

I think he's saying he like the Apes alot better then without?????

Storm 4U I think you will find that the Apes will be alot more comfortable then the stock bars on longer trips. As long as they arn't to tall.

Oh.......my bad! I know there are alot of people on here bashing apes, but I have never heard anyone who have them on their bike complain or say they took them off for comfort reasons.
